Flux Core Arc Welding/ Gas Metal Arc Welding Pipe Combo Course (FCAW / GMAW Pipe Combo Course) 120 Hour Course/ 6 Week Course
This course focuses on teaching MIG (Gas Metal Arc Welding – GMAW) and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) techniques for welding carbon steel pipe. These processes are commonly used in heavy fabrication, shipbuilding, and structural applications where speed, efficiency, and strong welds are required.
Students will learn pipe fit-up, root pass techniques, and multi-pass welding using both solid wire (with shielding gas) and flux-cored wire (with or without gas), including training in out-of-position welding and preparation for pipe certification tests.
This program will teach the flux core arc welding process (FCA W) and Gas Metal Arc Welding process (GMA W) on pipe as well as the three modes of transfer - short arc, pulse, and spray arc. The Flux Core Arc Welding process and Gas Metal Arc Welding course is designed to teach students about arc welding safety and the gas metal arc welding process (FCA W) (GMA W) and proper techniques for welding. Students will learn welding and cutting safety; oxyfuel, plasma arc, and air carbon arc cutting; metal preparation and weld quality; weld symbols and detail drawings; and employment readiness. Upon completion of the course the graduate should be able to start work as an entry level structural welder in the construction or industrial field.
