MIG & Flux-Cored Plate Welding Course (GMAW/FCAW)
$2,000.00
This course is designed to train students in two essential wire-feed welding processes used in fabrication and manufacturing:
-
MIG Welding (GMAW – Gas Metal Arc Welding)
-
Flux-Cored Welding (FCAW – Flux-Cored Arc Welding)
Students will learn to weld mild steel plate in multiple positions using both solid wire with shielding gas and flux-cored wire with or without gas. These processes are commonly used in industries such as oil and gas industry, automotive repair, structural fabrication, heavy equipment, and shipbuilding.
What You'll Learn:
-
Welding safety and personal protective equipment (PPE)
-
Machine setup and voltage/wire speed adjustment
-
Solid wire (MIG) vs. flux-cored wire types and applications
-
Shielding gas selection and tank safety
-
Welding plate steel in flat, horizontal, overhead and vertical positions
-
Fillet welds, lap joints, and groove welds
-
Common weld defects and how to troubleshoot them
-
Visual inspection and weld quality evaluation
Included Materials:
-
Welding booth and machine access
-
Welding helmet, gloves, jacket
-
Steel plate coupons and wire
-
Classroom workbook and safety guide
Who This Course Is For:
-
Beginners wanting hands-on experience in production welding
-
Welders looking to improve or cross-train in GMAW/FCAW processes
-
Those preparing for AWS GMAW or FCAW Plate Certification
Outcome:
Upon successful completion, students will receive a Certificate of Completion, and may qualify to take an AWS D1.1 or D1.3 plate test, depending on performance and testing availability.
